Vengeance of the Sea
Author:
Trinity Dragon PM
A few years ago, I visited the sea. A storm was blowing, and the waves were monstrous. And as I sat upon the cliff, near the lighthouse, I remembered thinking about how beautiful the sea is when it takes vengeance on those who take her for granted.

Vengeance of the Sea

Inhale...
Exhale...
Inhale...
Exhale...
Timed to the beat of the fluttering sail.
Sweetness of rain,
Salt of the Sea
Invigors the soul, the core of me.

Honest and open,
Fractured and broken--
Waves burst forth from a tidal motion.
Pushed and pulled,
Calmed and lulled--
Much like the forecast of life was foretold.

Inhale...
Exhale...
Inhale...
Exhale...
Thrown about by a turbulent gale.
Traitorous waves,
No port for protection
But only the ocean's rough insurrection.

Fickle and cruel
Used as a tool
She asserts with a vengeance her absolute rule.
Breathing deep
She wakes from her sleep
And steals men's souls, those who gave her to keep.
