Those cantankerous colts

Stride around the yard,

No fear for unknowns,

Just thirst to go far,

And everything they see

Is a little blurry,

They follow mustang's lead

But don't understand the hurry.

There's bulls and there's sows,

And there's calves of the cows,

And they walk a bit slower,

And they only go when they're told,

but

Those cantankerous colts hold

A desirous bronco who

Will break flanks with his kin,

Jump the fence and dive in

And never look back

But instead will get trapped

And caught and returned

To the place he had spurned.

A new fence will be made,

He won't make the new grade,

He'll fail to jump ship,

And old age won't remember the trip.
