Fallen Angels
Chapter 3: It’s Complicated
Azena Kira

Setasha glanced at the door of the classroom unable to pay attention to anything the teacher was saying. She sighed softly and glanced down at her paper that was on the desk in front of her. What if he calls during class? I’ll be in trouble… She thought. Her hand had unconsciously drifted down to her pants and she ran a hand over the phone in her pocket for a split second before shivering slightly.

Voenn, who was seated right next to her, glanced over and frowned slightly. Why does she always hide everything? I mean… She knows I know about her past… Hell we’re the same age, literally. He sighed softly while running a hand through his hair and glanced at the teacher who continued the lecture, and then he looked down at his non-existent notes and sweat dropped. He really hoped that there would be a test on this. He found himself glancing at Setasha again.

It’s true that she was rather good looking… Long black hair, beautiful bangs swept to the left side, bright blue eyes… Too bad he was gay, otherwise it might work out… If you ignored the fact that he had a huge crush on her brother Leon. All three of them had been friends since they were little, although, Voenn was in fact older than both of them… But he only beat Leon by three years, while Setasha was a year younger than Leon. As for how old they actually are… They kept that to themselves. They knew their ages, and for the time being, that would be enough.

Setasha glanced at Voenn and blinked once she realized he was staring at her. His eyes shifted up to hers and he blinked while blushing slightly. ‘Are you alright?’ Setasha mouthed to him.

He calmly glanced down and Setasha blinked. Voenn sighed softly and glanced back up, ‘Are you?’ he mouthed and she tensed slightly. How could he tell that something was wrong?

Voenn grinned slightly, as if he had read her mind. He quickly picked up his pen and scribbled something down on a sheet of paper and handed it to her. Setasha blinked and looked down at it.

Because I know you.

Setasha blinked a few times more and glanced back up at his smiling face as the bell rang to end the class. She glanced towards the clock, surprised by how quickly the period had passed, even when she wasn’t paying attention. She sighed. Time really does go too fast.

She looked up to find that Voenn was already gone and walking out the door. She blinked again and felt her eyes sadden. He always walks with me though…Maybe I should tell him. She sighed and stood up while grabbing her stuff.

As she walked out of the room she heard a voice coming down the hall, “SETTY!”

Setasha sweat dropped at the girl’s voice, “Oh no…” was all she could manage to get out before she was literally tackled to the ground by her blond friend.

“Setasha!” The girl managed to stammer into Setasha’s back, “You didn’t call me all weekend!”

Setasha managed to get out of the girls grasp and ran a hand through her hair, “Sorry Star… I was busy.”

“Busy with what?”

Setasha paused for a second and looked away, “It’s… Complicated.”

“You always say that.” A guys voice said from behind her.

Setasha blinked and instantly turned around to face another blond boy. Suddenly she began to realize how many blond friends she actually had…

“What’s really going on Setasha?” The blond boy asked as he stepped closer and peered deeply into her eyes.

Setasha felt her face flush slightly, “It’s nothing Shade, alright?”

The boy frowned slightly, “Bullshit.”

“Hey Setasha, where’s your friend that you normally walk with?” Star asked.

“He’s… Well… A little mad at me…” Setasha managed to say while staring at the floor.

Shade blinked, “What do you mean he’s mad at you? You two are so close it’s like you’re dating!”

“We’re not dating.” Setasha said while glaring at the blue-eyed, blond boy. “Now would you two leave me alone?”

Shade frowned and looked down as Star glanced at him. Star glanced back at Setasha with a worried look, “Setasha, what’s really going on? I mean… The last time you were like this was when you found out your friend died… What was his name?”

Setasha tensed. She hated talking about Zax… Seeing as they were engaged and supposed to get married, but then he died. The cops version of the story was very different than the truth and she wanted to keep that to herself… For now, no one needed to know. “His name was Zax.”

“Oh right, that name.” Shade said while putting an arm around Setasha’s shoulders. She felt her face flush slightly and glanced at him as he spoke, “Can you just please tell us what’s wrong? We’re like, your only friends here besides that Voenn guy.”

I sighed and looked down, “It’s really complicated… You wouldn’t understand.”

“Try us.” Shade said with a grin that caused Setasha to blush a little more. It was so hard to keep the truth from him.

Setasha sighed and pulled away from them, “I’m sorry guys, I can’t… I’m going to be late.” She said as she started to walk away.

Shade frowned slightly and ran a hand through his hair while sighing, “Well that went as planned.”

“…I hope you’re kidding.” Star said as she faced him.

Shade visibly twitched, “Of course I was kidding!”

“Okay… I know something’s wrong with Setasha, but now what’s wrong with you?”

He glanced at her, “I hate when she doesn’t tell me things…”

Star rolled her eyes, “Yeah, you’d be that type. She keeps to herself Shade, we just have to get used to it. I know it’s hard, I want her to tell me just as bad as you want her to tell us, but apparently, that’s not going to happen. So we just need to let her have her space. Okay?”

“I guess…” The blond stated as his eyes followed Setasha around the corner. He sighed softly and leaned against the wall with a sad look in his eyes that were still transfixed on the corner, expecting her to walk back.

Star grinned, “I knew it.”

Shade blinked and glanced at her, “Knew what?”

Star just gave an innocent smile, “Nothing. We should go, we’re going to be late too.” She stated as she began to walk off, “Besides, we have gym class with Setasha next anyways, so we can try to get her to talk.”

Shade blinked a few times and chuckled softly, “Alright.”
