Love is a Hoax

I once believed in the wedded bliss,

But all the cliché’ love songs in the world could not mend my broken heart.

We always agreed on everything-which means you were always right-,

But in the end I proved to hold truth in my arguments.

I always wanted you to protect me,

And I know at some point you had the best intensions,

I don’t know when the exchange rate changed,

But I do know that your eyes no longer look at me.

It was said I carried a black heart,

The only black heart is yours.

(My broken heart cries out for you still.)

I’m done with a game that is supposed to never end,

This once eternal shared love has left long ago,

It’s ridiculous to hold on to the past,

Yet we find ourselves clinging to what once was.

I am a daughter of lady liberty

No man of the south can weight me down,

I am forever endowed with freedom and the pursuit of happiness.

You never could cope and tried not to let me free.

I tried to hard to at being yours only.

All our follies add up to the end.
