Of Scotch and Chocolate
He had enjoyed those two years of peace. Two years of peace, and then all hell broke loose. He knew the moment he heard the news. He knew that nothing would ever be the same again. That was the way it was meant to be. Or was it? Had it all been triggered by something he had done, or something that he could have prevented? Was is destined from the start? Was this meant to be his fate? Or was there still hope? No, there was no hope left. There was never any hope.
All this could be read on Chocolate’s face. Scotch smirked, twitching his whiskers. He knew what his dear brother thought of him and his actions. He knew that his brother had lost hope that ‘good will prevail and evil will be vanquished’. Scotch knew too. This was his little fantasy, and no good-doing brother would get in his way. Or maybe he would, but that was pesky Chocolate for you. Scotch figured that his brother could easily flung out of his way though if need be. His evil grin grew wider as he watched Chocolate’s frustration grew on his already annoyance-riddled face. This was going to be fun.
“All that frowning has added a few years to your looks.” Scotch smiled as he sauntered lazily up to a bubbling Chocolate. A bit vain as he circled his prey.
“No thanks to you!” Chocolate spat, turning to face his brother at all times, about ready to rip off his brother’s ears. He was on the end of his rope. And Chocolate had one long rope. Only his brother could drive him insane like this. He couldn’t stand it.
Scotch stopped his slow circling and gave his brother a false and mocking look of hurt and sorrow. “I’ll never understand you and your goody-goody ways.” He continued to taunt, driving Chocolate to the edge.
Chocolate clenched his teeth, closing his eyes. Somehow, he was able to push away the anger, if only for a while, and try to carry on with making civilized conversation. Not that it would stay that way, Scotch always found a way to make things get worse. Almost like when you say, wow, this couldn’t get worse, and then it does? Well Scotch was the one who always made it worse. Chocolate could help but wonder; Why did his brother have torment him? “Nor will I ever understand you.”
Scotch laughed. It was a malicious laugh. A laugh that Chocolate knew well. A laugh that had not cursed his ears until three years ago. Not during those two years of peace.
Why did it have to be him?
Why?
Why?
Why…
Sorry about the shortness, but it's just a prolouge, and the next chapter will be longer and worth those 5 reviews!!
