I wonder what it's like to be with him...

My name is Lavander Kay Finley, single, but the most popular girl in Little Missy High School, which is an all girls school. I'm in my senior year but I am not particularly active in any clubs or extra-curricular activity or anything. I'm just... beautiful.

I'm 5'5” tall, have chestnut-colored hair that reaches my mid back snipped into a layered look with bangs that reaches my lips, brown sparkling eyes and a pout that can catch any guy's attention from miles.

Right now, I'm having coffee with Alana, my best friend and my room mate in the dorms, at the coffee shop near our school grounds. Well, I personally don't like coffee but it's a great excuse to take a peak and get to know at some of the boys over at the all boys school two blocks away from our grounds.

Today, a raven haired guy with intelligent grey eyes is eyeing me from the counter. He was with 2 more friends who look like geeks... not like the right friends for such a hunk to hang out with.

“Alana, you know who that guy is over there?” I pointed Mr. Grey eyes.

“Sorry Van. He looks hot though.” She giggled and threw him a wink.

“Stop that! He might try to approach us. Remember? No boys day?”

“Oh Van, you know we can't do that. Not when someone as perfect as pretty boy there is right in front of us.” Again, she threw him another wink.

“You're such a flirt...” I went back to reading my magazine.

“Excuse me,” he had the guts to come to us. “Mind if I sit with you ladies?”

“Oh, but weren't you sitting with your friends at the counter?” I snapped at him which gave me a kick on the shin from Alana.

“No, not at all, come join us.” Alana did it, she invited him over.

“You must excuse Van here, she's a bit...”

“Don't you even dare finish that Alana. But excuse me, I must go.”

“Van...”

“Bye Alana! And nice to meet you...”

“Reagan, call me Reagan.”

“Well, nice to meet you Mr. Reagan. My name's Lavander.”

And then I stormed out. I know it was rude of me to just go without even trying to get to know Reagan but I really don't want those kind of guys...

“Excuse me, may I ask for directions from you miss? I seem to be lost.”

A tall guy stopped me just around the corner of the coffee shop. He's even hunkier than Reagan over there... He's at least 5'11” with a cute dimpled smile and black-brown hair. He's wearing a pair of thick rimmed black glasses over his brown eyes.

“Sure, where are you headed to?”

“To Gales High.”

“Oh, it's exactly a block from here, you just have to turn left at that corner. It's the one with a green gate, you can't miss it. If you want I can walk you there.”

“Thank you for the kind offer but I think I can manage from here, thank you so much.”

“Glad to be of some help.” Then I walked away again.

When I reached our room, I plopped myself onto my bed and wondered why I chickened out in front of him. I really wanted to know his name. And is he a new student in Gales? I'll make sure to ask him everything the next time we meet.

From then on, I have been going to the coffee shop everyday after school, wishing to run into him and hoping that he will be the next one to enter the shop. Alana has been too busy with Reagan to even notice that I have been spending an awful lot of time alone. I have turned down several after school gimmicks to just hang out at the coffee shop alone. This caused a lot of guys to try pick me up but unfortunately for them, I was there not to go boy watching but to look for a certain guy.

After two weeks of waiting for him, he finally showed up... and he's alone! I watched him as he ordered from the counter and as he look for a place to sit since the shop is already crowded. I wonder if he saw me. I wonder if he still remembers me...

“Hi, have we met before?” A voice disturbed me thoughts. A boy stood before me.

“I believe we haven't. Sorry, you must have mistaken me for someone else.”

“Mind if I sit here?”

“Um, sorry but I am actually waiting for someone else.”

“You've been here alone for the past hour, maybe he stood you up.”

“Sorry I'm late.” There he was, showing me his cute dimpled smile.

“It's ok, come sit. Sorry.” And the boy left.

“Now we're settled. Thanks for the directions, I got there on time.”

“Thanks...”

“Oh, I believe I haven't introduced myself yet, My name is Xerxes Leif Brown.” He extended his hand.

“I'm Lavander Kay Finley, nice to finally meet you.” I took and shook his hand.

“So, are you a bean bag?” He said as he took a sip on this cup of coffee.

“No way, I don't really like coffee.”

“So why are you here so often?” Did he see me suring the past two weeks?

“How did you know I'm here that much?”

“Passed by.”

“Oh...”

“Maybe you're really waiting for someone.” He stood up, “I'm sorry.”

“No, no, sit down. I'm not really waiting for anybody.”

“No one? So you mean you really have been stood up by your boyfriend?”

“What makes you think I have a boyfriend?”

“A beautiful girl like you... Sorry.” He blushed and took another sip from his cup.

“Well, for your information, I am not waiting for someone. Second, I don't have a boyfriend who stood me up. Third, I am here because I like the atmosphere. And lastly, thank you...”

“Huh?”

“For saying that I'm beautiful...”

“Oh... I was just saying what I see.”

And then there was silence. I noticed that he wasn't wearing the Gales uniform like the rest of the guys here. He was wearing a light green vertically striped polo and a pair of dark khakis. He looks older now that I am paying attention.

“So where do you go to school?”

“I study a block from here, at Little Missy.”

“Oh, the all girl school.”

“Yep.”

“How is it there? Are you a senior?”

“It's great there. And how did you know?”

“I know that seniors there are asked to wear a red tie even though they don't have a uniform.”

“Oh...” I took hold of my tie and lowered the knot.

“I'll be going now, nice to meet you Ms. Finley.”

“Call me Van.”

“Call me Leif and see you.” He left the crowded little coffee shop and headed towards the Gales' dorms.

At least I found out what his name was...
