A Spark

You glance this way

I hide my face

So you won’t see

The pain inside

You taught me to love

With my heart and soul

But you betrayed me

To keep me safe

And lied

To spare my feelings

The truth was blurred

Obscure, smudged, and dirty

Rumors cut like knives

As forked tongues spat deceit

But my heart never wavered

Even with doubts

I trusted your fallen words

Why do you glance this way?

When its obvious you don’t care

You say you would die

To give me life

I’m sorry I started

What I couldn’t finish

And now I’m left here waiting

Knowing you still care

The silence is killing me

There are so many things

I wish I could say

When I look in your eyes

And see the pain

Wanting what we can’t have

Hurts me the most

So I’ll look to the future

And whisper three words

That carry the weight of the world

And describe

My feelings for you
