Quest

Find the song I sing for you,
hidden in the thrumming blood singing through my veins,
warming my skin and staining my cheeks red
like the sunsets I wish we could share.

Find the thoughts I think of you,
teetering on the cusp of wayward desire in my brain,
resonating with my immeasurable longing,
echoing (echoing) like a forgotten rhyme in my dreams.

Find the love I have for you,
in my heart deep inside the forest of my bones:
only my brittle ribcage, curving gently around
like your fragile kiss on my clavicle.

Find me.
You are everywhere restlessly;
I am impossibly still.

I am here.

(will you be my night in shining armor
when I am the moon?)

a/n: written easily and painlessly after reading Rapture, Carol Ann Duffy's seventh poetry collection.

i'd really love reviews for this one, as it is a departure from my current style. presently, i'm liking it. are you?
