It was February 4, 1938. Birmingham England. Robbie raced through crowds of people. Robbie Shruyler was trying to get to the petite coffee shop at the end of the corner. His khaki green suit was drenched in sweat.
He was late to meet his wife Indiana Shruyler. He pictured her red creamy hair in dozens and dozens of curls. Her gray eyes fixed on him and only him. Her lips coated with red lipstick. Thinking of his wife made Robbie run faster.
As Robbie raced on he noticed smoke come from the coffee shop. His heart jumped.
“Indiana!” he thought. He sped up. When Robbie rounded the corner and saw the orange and rosy flames coming from the coffee shop. Robbie cursed at himself quietly. If he only get there sooner. He didn’t expect it would take so long to pick out flowers.
Robbie bolted to the door. The handle was blazing hot. He didn’t care, he lifted his foot and kicked the glass door. It made a loud shattering noise. He crouched down low and stepped in the smoke filled room.
Tables were turned over. “ Indiana” Robbie shouted. “ INDIANNA!!” he shouted again. He started coughing from the smoke.
“ Robbie” he heard a small voice. The voice was familiar. The voice of the woman who stole his heart. It was his wife Indiana. He ran over to his wife. Her nurse uniform had burnt marks. Her normally red hair was covered in ashes.
“ Indiana” Robbie whispered as he pulled her onto his lap. He held her like a child. “ I love you Robbie” Indiana said as she coughed. “ I love you too, Indiana” Robbie said as caressed her cheek.
As Robbie and Indiana lay together, more of the former coffee shop’s foundation began to fall. With in five minutes Robbie and his wife died without oxygen. Right after that the fire department came. They tried to save them but it was too late.
“ It’s a shame they were so young” said one of the doctors.
“ Yeah, at least they died together in each others arms” said the other doctor.
Robbie Shriller and Indianna Shruyler died February 4th, 1938. A tragic ending to a tragic beginning.
