Pledge of Allegiance
4.8.08
we pledge allegiance to the flag
from life to pain to coffin
and to our generals, for whom we stand
don’t forget
to salute
indomitable
(that’s what they think)
with liberty they lie about
and justice (they mean revenge)
for all who pay their taxes.
stand together and be proud
as your sergeant rapes your mind of its
innocencehopesdreams
and barks orders to his soldiers (slaves?)
say farewell to your sanity, soldiers!
sir, yes sir!
(though that’s already long gone)
don’t expect to see your families again, soldiers!
sir, yes sir!
and, soldiers… kiss your souls goodbye.
Author's note: In case any of y'all didn't catch it, the first stanza is written along the same lines as the real pledge of allegiance -- same sort of lilt to it (or at least that's what I tried for).
