Prompt: a picture of a gate with the sign 'Traitors' gate' on it, from Feath's Bookcase's Muse Teasers daily drabble idea. And let me tell you, writing drabbles is a lot harder than I thought it would be.
Traitors' gate.
At the end of this alley lies the point of no return, in the form of a small but heavily bolted gate. The moment I open it – with the key I have clenched in my sweaty palm – I will become a traitor. Because behind it, the enemy waits. The enemy of my country, of my people and my ancestors. Not my enemy. I will receive my thirty pieces of silver from them, after the city is taken. After I lead them into the houses of people who are asleep and unaware of my disloyalty. People who will easily be conquered.
