I ring on the doorbell. I wait in the cold.

Now let me in, darling, whilst I am still bold.

Our rendezvous safe beneath an alibi,

I lock the door firmly and give this a try.

Your back hits the wall with a beautiful snap.

Your tears are like diamonds. (I guess I'm a sap.)

I love you in every way that I've learned,

Your face on my retinas lovingly burned;

I'd write beautiful words till my fingers turn blue

But it's better to come and to act them to you.

Don't thank me, my love. I know just what you'd say

If only your breath was not stolen away.
