Note: This was written for an English project, and my topic was security on Facebook. This was also my first attempt at a Petrarchan/Italian sonnet. I know I didn't get the rhyme scheme exactly right, though, so please don't pick on me!
Ode to Facebook
Facebook, my darling, keep me connected
With all of my homies and my new fave band
And ev’ry last thing that the new trends demand.
Who cares if my info stays protected?
I’ll laugh at the pics of me drinking beer;
I’ll see when my crush breaks up with that skank;
And on your top friends, I’ll see where I rank,
But if I’m not there, I’ll call you a queer.
When feeling dramatic, Facebook’s my friend.
I’ll confess all my secrets in my blog;
I’ll bitch about life, complain to no end.
My digital life means so much to me -
It’s all so much better than analog!
Facebook and I, we live in harmony.
