The promises and threats(and lies)

Of the sleeping lioness,

Locked away, but for now.

And yet she knows the consequences—

Knows the love of iron fences,

Knows to where all present tenses

Lead.

She needs—

Feels it in her head and heart,

Choking where she plays the part,

And loathing well, the seed.
