A/N: I personally don't do short stories, because I never really could, so finally I sat down to my computer & decided to attempt short stories. If I ever hope to aspire to be a great writer someday, this is defintetly something I would have to conquer & so I am battling it out now. xD Please, give me critiques so I can improve, but no negativity, it doesn't help any if you just tell me " This sucks", but if it does if you were to say, " This sucks because..."

Thanks & I hope you enjoy!

It’s a Shame, I Don’t Think This’ll Last

It’s a shame, I don’t think this’ll last,
La da da.
So long & good night,
Duh da dum.

Some vampires are good and some are bad. But most of them, are bad. Very bad.

His voice echoing in your head. Those words. You should’ve known. You should’ve known. He told you to watch out with what you did. To not get involved. But you did. You crossed the line. You deserve this. You get what you get. You are reaping what you sow. Tears form in your eyes, but you push them away. Push everything you can away.

Blood rushing to your head. It’s hard to keep running. Your glad you chose today to wear sneakers. That you chose to wear those jeans your so conferrable in. That your dark brown hair is up in a ponytail. That you chose today to dress for a runaway. An escape.

The regular people. The bodies filled with blood. (Like yours.) The mindless wannabe fit-ins all walking around in the same pattern. In the same way. Living the same life. You didn’t want it.

But… No, you had to have it all. You wanted it all. Nothing was ever enough. In the end, that makes you just like them. Your nothing. No one will notice your gone. Not one. You are one out of a million,

-- & easily replaced.

You shake the thoughts from your foggy head and struggle to push your body forward. It lags and feels heavy. Your arms next to you pushing you forward feel as if their in slow motion. Are you going anywhere at all or are you just running in place? The warehouse seems so big, so long. You can’t feel anything anymore. Your mind runs blank. Think. Think.

Think!

The backdoor. You entered the backdoor. There has to be an exit. You start to look around for your escape. For another way out. You can’t come out the way you came in, he knows it. Something inside you suddenly realizes something. He knows the way you came in, you repeat to yourself.

You stop running. Your heart’s suddenly beating faster and louder than ever before. Everything starts to connect. The puzzle pieces that moments before were scattered all over the floor are scrambling together to fit inside your head. It clicks and your eyes close. You know now, that it is over. You stop. You give in.

Something inside you clicks. Moves. Not today. Shifts. Not tonight.

“Not today!” you scream, “ Not tonight!”

You hear him laughing in the background. You don’t know where, but he’s there. He’s applauding. He tells you that you’ve figured it out fastest. He walks out from in front. He’s not tired. His angelic face is not sweaty. You are. Your muscles ache & your lungs hurt. You lick your lips as your body burns with what’s about to come.

Eyes wide open, you see it. You feel it. You smell it. The world. It’s right out there & you run for it. I can make it, I can make it, you repeats to yourself. You can do this, you say and you push yourself one more time.

You make it out. You can’t believe it. You don’t stop. You don’t look out. The small hole in the warehouse, cracked from where he’d thrown you earlier. From where he gave you the news, that he was one of those very bad vampires. Before it hit that he was very bad from the start.

The alley is dark and narrow behind the warehouse. You can hear the music from the bar. It’s so quiet and sound so far away, but it gives you hope and you begin to sprint. If you walk into that bar, everything will be okay. You see at the far end of the blackness, a door open, two people walk out and turn the corner. The backdoor of the bar.

Closer, closer.

You hear breathing behind you. Your eyes tear. You weren’t going to make it from the start. It was all a cruel game. He plays with his food before he swallows it whole. You close your eyes as the tears fall down. The teeth sink into your neck and you scream out. The scream is low and quiet. Full of pain and regret. You should’ve known. You sink to your knees and he’s the only thing holding you up. Your body fills with a warm heat as he sucks you dry. Sucks you dry of everything.
Of love.
Of hate.
Of remorse.

He walked in slowly to that bar & you were sitting there in the back. Away from the crowd. Off in your own world. All on your own. The music was playing so loud, but all you could hear & see was him.

Oh you were his from the moment he walked in.

Oh, but wait… aren’t they all?

He turns the corner and smirks to himself as he sees the bar. He walks in and instantly a flag is risen. He doesn’t even have to search the crowd anymore, he can find them so easily, it’s like breathing. Slowly he walks over. He’ll talk to her for a little. She’ll smile and laugh. She’ll stare into his eyes, they’ll match the mood. His looks will do all the mesmerizing. His words will intoxicate her and slowly, he’ll say it & everything after that will be history. Fate.

“We party at the warehouse on Fridays,” he’ll say, “Meet me there at ten.” & they will.

You watched him walking away and your were filled with anxiety at when you would next meet. Did we all love death this much or did it only come at the end?

“You have an illegal taste. Very unusual.” He murmurs in your ear.

Stop struggling, this is nothing, he won’t set you free. You give in. Somehow, something inside you changes and your arms wrap around him tightly. You feel his soft hair and look into his blood red eyes.

It’s suffocating. Everything right now is suffocating. But, then again, it’s always been. Everyone (else) just learned to live with it. You don’t mind anymore. You were betrayed the moment you were born. The fresh breath of cruel, cold air, it meant nothing but harshness. It was just another betrayal. They all are. The weakening of the lungs. The slowing of the heart. The uselessness of your hands or your legs. Of your sight. Everything eventually is betrayed by the one thing they were born into & the part of your body that betrayed you, was your heart.

“This wickedness, turns my innocence… Into something, I can not change,” you whisper into his ear, “Can you taste it? You will never change. You will always remain alone.”

And then the night is filled with your laugh. You laugh with sorrow. You laugh with all of your dying heart, because you know it’s true. For the both of you.

You hear him growl and your hands grasp tightly to his jacket as you feel a sharper pain at your neck.

The music that you could hear only seconds before your last hope of freedom, seeping out from the bar into the alley, slowly fades away as your eyes close. You see him one last time. He’s walking into the bar. He’s getting another one. You should’ve known.

Some vampires are good, but most of them, are very bad.

Duh da dum,
So long & good night,
La da da,
It’s a shame, I don’t think this’ll last.
