Telling lies behind gold-plated eyes-
chip away enough and you'll discover
the tarnished bronze heart underneath

(she wasn't even good enough for silver) -

and you wonder why you're surprised
that she's beautiful;
as if all evil things were/are ugly beings.

How often has that theory proven you wrong?

And she's cold to the touch
(you hate her so much you wrote her a love song
that skips, skitters, and generally sucks).

Her mouth on yours
is like fire on ice -- steamy.ouchit burns

Yet you devour her whole,
old feelings returning.

"Do you love me?" she asks, looking so vulnerable,
you could shatter her with one syllable;
but you only smile --

Your eyes lie for you
(and your heart is stone).

"Make new friends, but keep the old;
one is silver and the other's--"

AN: deannanic63 mentioned that my formatting got screwed in the uploading of this, so I took it down, fixed it, and here it is anew! The last line in quotations is from a Girl Scout song I learned back when I was like 7... Yeah, I used to be a Girl Scout. For some reviews I may just share my cookies ;-)
