Star

An eerie silence surrounds me,
unceasingly haunting my soul.
The cold air brings no warmth,
how do I escape this cold?

I shiver and hug myself tightly,
I’ve never felt so alone…
My chest, my heart feels so constricted,
I weep tears that cannot be shown.

I see nothing but darkness here,
not even the slightest ray of light.
Is this how I’m meant to be?
Deprived of even the slightest to sight?

Amidst my sorrows, I feel a strange presence…
It feels so different, somehow untouched by despair.
Where can I find this source of light?
Could this star make pain easier to bear?

I staggered clumsily in the darkness,
trying desperately to find it.
That I did, I searched and searched,
for what felt like eternity, I refused to quit.

At last, my search came to an end
and I found my so-called star.
It was then that I realized
that Hope really isn’t that far.

Years have past, times have changed
and yet my Star shines ever bright.
This empty space is now a colorful reality,
the darkness overcome by her light.

Without my dearest Star,
I never would have found my way.
Without my source of light,
I may have never seen Day.

Life was always so meaningless,
so empty before you came.
Without you in my life,
things just wouldn’t be the same.

Thank you.
