The game of truth

That Night

You see me across the room

The club music beats around us

The lights pulse with the music

You smile, I smile

You come close, I walk closer to you

That day when all lies and scars were erased

The day that maybes and nevers disappeared

And it was only me and you
And you and me

No one else but us

Us in that room talking everything out
We stay in there a long time, just talking

We laugh and cry, we talk and stay quiet

We express our deepest feelings

We talk about our most embarrassing moments

We talk about the times we’ve loved and lost

Until all that’s left is a comfortable silence

Then in that silence comes those three words:

“I love you.”

At first, I am stunned then I smile and say:

“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to hear that.”

You laugh with me and say right back:

“Oh, I have some idea.”

We laugh some more and talk some more

We spend the night talking

We leave sometime in the morning

Later that day, I see you

Saying all the same things

You said to me that night

And we let the dance begin again
