Words for Loss

Words for Loss

You never quite realize how words can touch a soul

The hope, the love, the vanity, and the pain can take its toll.

There are sentences for everything, but not all have a place

Some feelings cannot be described, some struggles can’t be faced.

But as dear Mr. Frost once said, two paths will oft diverge,

The one you choose to travel down will thus reveal your courage.

The woods beyond are dark and thick, the light not very clear,

Use your senses freely and you'll learn to feel and hear;

Eyes are useful, but not truthful, and off the path you’ll veer.

Perhaps its now, that I myself must decide

Whether to more forward, or by the past be tied.

Cutting strings is painful, and seldom worth the cost,

But how else do you know what it is to feel a loss?
