flesh to flesh

if i ever manage to forget you
the sensation of being flesh to flesh
will haunt my dreams; the warmth
of your body pressed against mine

i feel like i will dissolve in your arms
the tears falling down your chest
& i can’t look out at the river
& make everything meaningless

these last eight months were not
in vain; after all we fell in love
before our body chemistry
could even catch up & the
psychic (retarded) connection

makes it hard to find reasons
to run in the opposite direction
can’t we erase this, can’t we
erase that night on the river
can’t i just erase the summer?

the warm embrace of your body
frames mine perfectly & i can’t
find a better fit as you stroke
my hair & tell me it’ll be okay
when you know as well as i do
that it will not be okay

a/n: i tried to run away from you, but you kept coming back...
