Mahogany

With scratchy old records resonating through an empty hallway

And doors breaking open and closed as work continues for the night

A golden softness of the gas-lamp-lit doorway down far

And the softest of laughter to warm you as the midnight bell tolls

And you prepare for the work of the coming day.
