Forever

Her eyes are cold—
full of a dozen frozen stars
thawing and melting
against time.

Love struck the moon,
showering its false light;

a million people wish
upon an illusion.

But he doesn’t care.

Wrapped inside his kiss
are the echoing words
you look beautiful
when you cry

and so at last the night
burns out
bright.
