Trip

I think my friend said, I should wear my red dress.
I wondered vaguely if either would survive.
I did as she suggested, with a knowing smile,
And hoped that I'd come out alive.

-

I think my friend played the Beatles in the background.
Then she suggested I sniff a little powder.
All the pieces melted, one by one by one,
And neither of us stopped until the other girl was done.

-

I think my friend said, take the darker pills next.
I saw a million fairies dance.
Something big exploded, before my bloodshot eyes,
And neither girl could stop until the other one had died.

-

I think I heard the Beatles in my ear, loud.
I think I screamed aloud.
I think my friend said, "See the pretty rainbows,"
But neither of us really knows.

-

My mouth was open when I hit the floor,
And then I screamed no more.
I think my friend began to close the bottle,
And then I screamed for more.

-

I think my white wings flew me out the black house,
I saw the feathers fall.
My soul was hurled from side to side like rag dolls,
Until my crashing to the ground.

-

I think my friend said,
I think my friend said.
I think my friend said,
I think my friend's dead.

I think my friend's dead, I can see her rainbow.
I think my friend's dead, and I think I killed her.
I need my bottle, I need twenty pills,
I see a tunnel, and there is no end.

-

I don't remember at which point they came home,
I just remember that I was alone.
