Cigarettes.

Lashing glances

Burn cerebral

Memories

Into integral

Parts of him

She’s letting go now

Never mind

(He doesn’t know how)

He’ll realise he’s sleeping with a silhouette

She was only chatting up his cigarette

In the morning

Bitter coffee

Nicotine

‘Just get off me’

She gets up

Puts her clothes on

Taste of toothpaste

(Time to move on)

He’ll realise he’s sleeping with a silhouette

She was only chatting up his cigarette

Taking orders

Serving Big Macs

Smoke a quick one

Round the back

Call her from

A broken payphone

Doesn’t pick up

(Knows she’s still home)

He’ll realise he’s sleeping with a silhouette

She was only chatting up his cigarette

Bust her lip to

Make her see

‘This is what you

Mean to me’

She’s the one he

Can’t forget

(Taken all his

Cigarettes)
