Love is like throwing darts at a Periodic Table
hoping for chemistry.
Sometimes you just can’t know until you try.
Love can miss terribly, hit when you least expect it.
Sometimes you have to say, “Enjoy it.”
(But what can we do now but wait?)
I’ve thought too much, wavered too strongly.
Sometimes you just have to say, “Okay.”
(I’ll overanalyze stuff. It’s who I am?)
You can’t be tired, ‘cause I’ve dragged you through my mind all night.
(I’m feeling alive, feeling alive,)
Sometimes you have to stop trying.
(feeling alive, and it’s one in the morning.)
Sometimes you have to let the words flow
(Valarie, will you go out with me?)
Sometimes you have to stop being scared
(I’ll run. Will you chase me?)
Sometimes things will just work
(Oh my God, we’re all gonna die –)
Sometimes the side of you who throws aside homework
and jumps on Mr. Freeze can shine through, too.
(But only sometimes)
Sometimes you can know you’re attractive
(I’m feeling alive, feeling alive)
and it’s one in the morning

(Hopefully all the stuff about love
will only strike you as metaphorical,
cause I don’t know about that yet,
but sometimes you can’t know until you try.)
