J. For June

My first remembered thoughts were those of wordless confusion and fear. All anyone knows of me is I’m aobut 5’7” and somewhere around 18 years old. I didn’t know what happened, where I was, where I came from, or even who I was. I didn’t even know the basics of speech and motor ability. I consider that day my birthday. Just call me J.

For one so infantile, I apparently relearned my speech and such quite quickly. It only took me a year and a half of silent frustration until it finally all clicked. Then suddenly I was talking up a storm…or at least I could make myself known. Since they had no clue who I was they called me June Doe. They called me June since they had plenty of JANE’s in the world, and I was found in June. I personally perfer J. JUST J.

I was found curled in the fetal position out in a corn field. Wearing nothing but a Korn Tee and blue jeans. I had absolutely no form of ID on me, and like I said, I was wearing NOTHING but the shirt and jeans. I was found by an old farmer looking for his son. Poor son wasn’t found alive, but I was. Poor guy, thought I was either fatally injured or dead already.

The search for my name started there. They started with descriptions of people who recently disappeared who would be about my age. Then they started going backwards from ther grasping at straws, franticly searching for a hint of ANYONE fitting my description, or anything close to it.

I believe the story they finally settled on was that the reason they cant find a name for me is because I’m not on the missing person list. Which means when I disappeared, no one noticed. Either that or no one cared.

And where does that put me? Right now I’m sitting on a couh in Dr. Schmuckal’s office. He’s a psychiatrist or something like that. He’s getting paid by a Dr. Robinson to “help” me remember. Dr. Robinson is actually an English professor with a Ph.D., he’s doing a study on amnesia and is using me to get some of his data.

Any way, Dr. Schmuckal-which is seriously his last name-thinks that somehow by telling my story from the beginning it might trigger a memory or something. I think its all a bunch of hogwash, but since I will be getting some royalties of the Doctor’s book, why not.
