Mr. Someone Else's Clock Is Broken!

Mr. Someone Else was a nice man, he abided by the rules, he did everything right, but most importantly he was always on time! And so one day when Mr. Someone Else was getting ready for the day he looked at one of his very precisely set clocks. He had at least two clocks in EVERY room! And all were set to the exact same time, down to the hour, minute, second and some even had the date on them.

He had all clocks, of every shape, size, language, make. He loved them all equally, and showed them all just as much affection as the next, except his most favourite and the one he really hated. But those are two (Or one) other stories (Or story?) completely!

And so it was one morning when Mr. Someone Else was getting up and getting ready for his already planned and exactly timed, down to the exact millisecond, that terror struck!

He sat up in bed, after being woken up by his manual alarm clock, he checked the time - 6-54 on the dot, he then looked left and right, to his two analog clocks placed in mirror positions on each wall for the time, 6-54 and 24 seconds, he took into account the amount of time it took to check both, few seconds happened in-between, then and only then would Mr. Someone Else even think of leaving his incredibly messy bed, ('Cleanliness, who needs it?' He'd often say) He made his way to his ensuite, where he had many highly placed analog clocks, with no glass coverings, ('They'd fog up! Oh god!' you'd hear him scream when asked...), he glanced at his clock 7-15 and 33.3 seconds, he went on to get undressed, and promptly walked back and did a double take, after making sure he was completely correct in seeing it was 7-15 or was... (A minute of shock was to be allowed, but 7-16 all the same was bad!) Mr. Someone Else fainted...

Mr. Someone Else came to not 5 minutes later in reality but his clocks told him a different story. Where it should have been somewhere around the 7-05 mark the clocks in his bathroom were telling him it was now 7-38! How was this happening? Mr. Someone Else was going crazy! Near hysteria! How could this happen? How could his clocks be saying different times?! At least it was only the two rooms… And suddenly Mr. Someone Else had a thought… What if it was more than two rooms…? Worse… What if it was all rooms? He had so many! He had his bedroom, ensuite, another bathroom, a lounge room, kitchen, spare bedroom, dining room and an entry. Eight rooms! Plus the hallway! Nine! Seize clocks! More than Sixteen! Twenty eight clocks! Plus his watches! He had to check them all! He set off running for his lounge room, 2 down, 7 more to go he thought to himself, he could do it! He had faith! And he was scared out of his mind…

What was the time?!

He ran to into his lounge room, barely scraping safely through the door, he ran to the middle of the room, North! 8-15. South! 8-20. East! 8-25. West! 8-30! All different but all down to the second! Two analog and two manual… How did they all change? He walked dazedly into his kitchen feeling lost and wounded… He usually walked with such confidence! He knew what he was doing and when! Why, where, how… All of those W's… And the random H… But he just didn't know… Was it shower time? Was he past that? Despite the fact that he still hadn't even come close to any water? Was it breakfast time? Should he be sitting or standing? What of work? Did he even have that today? He wasn't quite sure of himself…

But he was quite sure all of his clocks in all the different rooms would be telling him different things… What was a Mr. Someone Else to do? And so Mr. Someone collapsed on the floor, trying to think, and put order in his mind… It seemed that by having his clocks all off set, so was he. He loved his clocks… Loved… Clocks… His favourite clock! He dashed around the house looking for it… Where had he placed it? Sometimes he liked to move it, so it could feel special and see the entire house… (Which was very nice… Excellent decorator!) As he ran all of his clocks flashed through his mind, different shapes, sizes, colours, languages… And now… Times! 8-45, 9-00, 9-25, 9-34, 10-00, even 11-56!

Mr. Someone else ran and ran checking clocks and periodically screaming when he saw a different time from the previous clock to the next, it was a terrifying time, Mr. Someone Else was stumbling and tumbling, falling and crawling, anything to get around his house, to find the only clock that could be his final savior!

He had finally found his most prized clock! And it read 8-05, nearly the time in which his carpool of friends and fellow workman would come to pick him up… If only it were right, when suddenly a knock was heard. Mr. Someone Else ran to the door to see his friend there…

"What's going on? It's time for work Someone, why aren't you ready? You're always ready," his friend managed to get out, having trouble keeping both his balance and composure at this otherworldly sight…

So it was the right time! Mr. Someone Else looked so happy and felt so joyful he started to dance! He didn't even care if he wasn't on time… Or timed at all! He was just thankful!

"Someone! Are you sick? Take the day off…!" And his friend fled back to the car, yelling about sicknesses, maybe it was contagious? Who knew? And as the car pulled out, Mr. Someone went about fixing all of his other 27 clocks to say the correct time, so he could be happy and peaceful once again…

Time should never be messed with… And Mr. Someone Else was a firm believer of that.

The End!
