I know our tendencies
tell us always to analyze –
and words come up like
‘ramification,’ in meaning,
a metaphor pertaining to a ram;
or ‘scatterbat,’
and I don’t know where the hell that comes from.
but let me let you in
on a writer’s secret –
poetry isn’t always deep,
and words aren’t constantly, consistently profound.
I mean,
does anyone think that this drivel
has a hidden meaning?
