I know our tendencies

tell us always to analyze –

and words come up like

‘ramification,’ in meaning,

a metaphor pertaining to a ram;

or ‘scatterbat,’

and I don’t know where the hell that comes from.

but let me let you in

on a writer’s secret –

poetry isn’t always deep,

and words aren’t constantly, consistently profound.

I mean,

does anyone think that this drivel

has a hidden meaning?
