Blacker than Midnight (4/20/08)

Groping in the dark.
I'm twisted in the tunnels of this
Cavern,
Clutching at nothing.
It's empty.
No walls around me
To help me feel my way.
Nothing solid, the floor's so slippery.
It could give way to
Nothing
Any moment -
Thin air under my feet,
Briefly, before I
Crash.
Surrounded by echoes,
Mocking.

You are alone.
Alone.
Alone...
There's no one here who knows the way
To guide you through the dark.
And if you fall,
No one will ever know.

It's like midnight in my soul.
Only blacker,
For morning never comes here.
