This is a short Chapter, one where I'm just wasting my time till a great big stroke of genius. No I'm just kidding, It's a start to a beautiful relationship. literally.
Meetings
Luci stumbled in sometime later than Jayne, and completely snuckered (Drunk) “The king took quite a liking to you; he danced horribly with every girl that he had to dance with.” Luci slurred.
“Go to bed Luci, try and get some rest or else your heads going to kill you when you wake up.”
“Righto then.” Jayne heard a soft thud hit one of the cushions on the floor and just rolled over. She never really slept; her dreams scared her too much.
“Jayne wait up!” Jayne heard her sister yell from behind her. Jayne laughed at her tag-along little sister. Jayne was 15 at the time, freshly turned, and her little sister was almost 7. “What’s so funny?” “You are, don’t you have any better things to do?” “No. Nothing that’s better than hanging out with you.” Jayne smiled, she turned her head and saw a strange man coming forward with wolves on leashes, the wolves were snarling at the two girls. She looked at the mans face but then…
Jayne woke up gasping for air; the dream had become worse since she had come to the castle. She rolled out of bed and when she heard something fall to the ground. She got on her knees and started feeling around to find what had fallen. Her fingers fell upon a long slender stick, with a slick finish. Jayne smiled. I guess he’ll see me again or…
A smile crept onto Jayne’s face. She quickly put on her usual dress and went out to the gardens, not bothering to wake Luci up. She didn’t care if she missed breakfast or anything Kea had to say, she had a feeling that he might be there. Jayne walked around the gardens following the smell of Roses; they fogged her mind to the point where she forgot why she had originally come to the Gardens.
She ran her fingers along the outline of a rose, memorizing every line. “Might I ask why you are in my Gardens?” she heard his voice call from behind her, she actually jumped at the interrupted silence.
“I’m sorry, I smelt the roses a-and…”
“It’s alright. You may come here anytime you wish to.”
Jayne smiled some more. “My lord king is very kind.”
Kraven gave a sigh. “Please don’t call me that, call me Kraven.”
“Why the special treatment?”
Kraven hesitated, thinking carefully. Why am I giving her special treatment? “I don’t know.” He answered truthfully. Jayne smirked. “You should smile more often. you have a nice smile.”
Her face burned red and her smile widened. “Thank-you, Kraven. You have a nice voice.”
“May I ask where you are from?”
“The plains, in the north.”
“Yes, but where at in the plains, tell me about your home.”
Jayne sat down at the nearby empty water fountain as did Kraven. “I use to live in a small cottage, with my Mum and Dad along with my older brother and little sister. I suppose you’ll be wanting to know all about her since you wouldn’t want a hideous blind girl as a wife, I bet that you’d rather indulge yourself in knowing how beautiful my baby sister is and having to hear it from me would be horrid.” Jayne spat out, her conscience was weighing heavy with guilt. “I’m sorry; I don’t know what came over me.” She felt a hand place itself on her back, she suddenly became very self-conscience.
“Why would you say that? I very much enjoy being around you. And why would you call yourself such things?”
“Because they are the truth, I have no idea what I look like, the last time I saw myself I was horrible looking.” Jayne adjusted her shades but then Kraven notice some faint scarring around her eyes.
“If I may ask, how did this scars come to be?” He pulled off Jayne’s glasses and ran his fingertips over her eyelids. Jayne’s breath caught in her throat, his touch was so gentle.
“I-I…T-they…” Jayne stammered; she took a deep breath and calmed herself. “It’s a long story.”
“I have time.”
“When I was 15, my father had decided that I should go to a proper school, one away from the boys in my village. We couldn’t afford for a carriage since they put most of their money into the schooling, so I went on a freight carriage. But the freight was filled with gunpowder and well…let’s just say I found out the hard way that fire and gunpowder don’t mix well.”
“You mean…”
Jayne cut him off, she wasn’t finished. “The driver was being an ass, and was making rude suggestive comments to me the whole way. He dropped his cigarette into the hay that surrounded the barrels. The hay caught fire and exploded. I was suppose to die, but the fates decided that I needed to suffer some more. The doctor's said that the fire had taken all the color from my eyes and I’d never see again for the rest of my life. Didn’t help that the Driver and his damn wolves haunt my dreams every night.”
Kraven was speechless. Jayne heard his silence all to well; she got up with the rose in her hand and started walking away. She felt something grab her hand, more possessive than anything, like a child trying to keep his mother to stay longer. She was pulled closer to Kraven, close enough that she could feel the sleekness of his mask run along her cheek “Your not hideous, you’re the exact opposite. Your beautiful, I would…I would like to talk with you some more. It’s nice to have someone you can talk to without having the fear that your secrets will be revealed to the world.”
Jayne’s head shot to the ground and smiled but she quickly hid the smile.
“I’ll be in the gardens everyday; will you meet me here tomorrow?” Kraven asked her. She stayed silent as she thought it over.
“Goodbye, Kraven.” She said his name in a whisper. It sounded perfect coming from her.
“Wait, you didn’t say yes.”
“And I didn’t say no either, something’s you have to wait for.”
After Jayne left Kraven went to his bedchambers, he felt the sudden urge to play his violin.
