Two-faced
Too much haste
Didn’t you realize?
It’s not something
You should waste.

Was this why you knocked on my door?
Asked me if I could handle, being friends with you some more.
Naively, I said yes, of course, what possibly else?
Why, nothing, you responded, just checking, a test.

Each word a drop, rippling from in to out
And I remember each individually, without a doubt.
What you thought a cliff, to jettison stray ideas
In fact a well – a bucket, rope, handle between us.

I don’t want to go fishing, truly I don’t
But if you continue, please don’t think I won’t.
Why, you ask? To halt future with past
See, perhaps I can awaken with what came last.

I’ve explained the lines to you, in detail I thought
But I’m surprised you’re not gone – do you think I’m bought?

No matter, I’ll stay. What else could I do if I were away?

Yes, yes, it’s normal, I truly understand
Don’t worry, backing off, I’d never throw in my hand.
Will you realize? I doubt it. You’ve holding a mirror.
But it’s okay, ‘cause I’m smiling, and oh, so eager.
