The Caged Bird Sings

The caged bird sings a song

A song so sweet,

So beautiful

You’d think he could just lift his wings

And fly.

--

But he can’t.

He’s dying,

He’s suffocating,

With no where to go,

No where to turn.

--

Why’s his song so sweet?

Why’s his song so beautiful?

What could he possibly sing of?

What does he have left?

--

The caged bird sings of hope.

Hopes and dreams.

Dreams of flying free

Flying among the stars

Flying in the world

Discovering the wonders

The wonders his life could have been.

--

He sings his song,

His wishful melody

Of dreams.

Painting a canvas

Bright, vivid colors of the world

--

The caged bird sings of hope.

Hopes and dreams.

Dreams of flying free.

Dreams of life.
