Ex’s and O’s

Ex’s and O’s

There was never a formal good-bye,

To end the massive lie

That held us together in union.

Now our secrets are untold,

But not to each other.

It’s way too much to behold,

I don’t know if I can take it.

You wasted my time more than you know

With your forever’s and always.

What was the point in our love

When all it was, was a friendship in disguise?

Now I’m stuck in the lies

That we’ve both entangled ourselves in

And have wounded my heart,

Pulling our friendship apart

So that we don’t even acknowledge each other.

What will it take

To get rid of the fake

And awkward guy I know?

And what will it take

To give this a break

And make our friendship whole?

Time could be the answer,

But I’d be waiting forever

For something that wouldn’t come true,

I guess we’re just—

Over.
