Coroo closed up his books and dumped them in his backpack. “Class Dismissed” said Mr. Gether, Coroo’s English teacher. The bell had just rung, signaling the end of the day. “Don’t Forget” He continued “Your projects are due at the end of the week. That’s ten percent of your grade this quarter.” Recently the class has been working on on extremely large book projects where the students had to lay out an entire poster board just on the one book they read and present it to the class.
Coroo walked out of the small classroom, down the crowded hall to the stairs. All upper grades, ninth through twelfth were held in the four story build, building C. Coroo attended August Academy, boarding school. Coroo’s parents had decided to tour the world, without him, while he was in the sixth grade. Since they couldn’t look after him they stuck him in the boarding school they thought best. After their tour they decided that august academy was such a nice place that they just kept him there.
It wasn’t bad, august academy, Coroo was popular among his class, well most of his class. The teachers weren’t completely insane, but there were a handful that was already of the deep end before Coroo even heard the words August Academy. Everything here was nice and well kept, the bathrooms were actually bearable, the desks had no gum under them, and the dorms were actually a good home. Of course they weren’t the student’s true home but they sufficed while they were away from their families.
Usually Coroo would head to the dorms or at least the commons area around the dorms, but today was the one day a week that was different. Currently a bus was preparing to leave for the town of hollow fields, a large city in the middle of Europe that was only a thirty minuet bus ride from school. Every week on Monday the school shipped kids from school into Hollow Fields if they wished so they could hang out, meet with family that lived there, or purchase clothes and luxuries. At the academy you received a small amount of money every week you kept your grades up, your room clean, not getting in trouble, etcetera. Also if you wanted you could earn a little extra cash by doing some errands for the teachers, doing groundwork for the janitors, Working in the cafeteria, and some other odd jobs around the school. Coroo had been working hard the past week because his parents sent him money monthly but this month he hadn’t gotten his check yet and he needed to get some things. He was headed to the mall with his friends to pick up some clothes and music. Mondays were every students favorite day, because usually the staff was to busy to provide chaperones and such.
The only bad part Was that the busses only provided one way transportation to Hollow fields, so you had to get some older kids to pick you up, some family, some friends in town, but Coroo didn’t want to bother with that so he just took the sub. There was a lone subway stop about a five minute walk from the dorms. Luckily the subway system gave a fifty percent discount to students of the academy so tickets were cheap. Almost every kid hated the subway so he was always the only student arriving at seven o clock in the night returning from the trip.
Coroo stepped on the dirty bus and took a seat way in the back with his friends and started having a good time.
