Accident

The sky was unusually pale

Empty clouds above where I lay

Highway noise in my ears

I felt it firs

My arm

I told them afterwards it didn’t hurt

A twinge, only a twinge

It wouldn’t move for me

Such a wasted chance I took, but I took it

Sleeping, sleeping, over and over

The pale sky stretched over me for miles

They were bleary eyed, all asking

But I only yawned

I only laughed

I promised them I’d do it again

The pavement was warm on my back

I’d do it again
