Maybe, maybe tomorrow
you won’t know who I am
I’ll be like another cloud passing
you over the drift of the lake
or perhaps the sunshine
you wish to recall but cannot.

You count the ticks on the clocks
just to make sure time isn’t
cheating again.
Oh how he stole the minutes for himself
fast forwarding our days
savoring them as his own.

There is blackness where you live now
Hearts swallowed by the sparrows
I am a scarecrow or a doll, tainted
with bad luck. Was it I that did this to you?
I cannot remember.
Maybe these cells of mine are losing hope too.
