Chapter One
My name is Wilda MoxBurry, I was born on January 15th, my mother Janice says my name means wilderness dweller. At least she got something right, I always spend my days outside. My father Kernal MoxBurry was killed in battle when I was three years old, I never really knew him so it didn't really cut me deep. My mom has dated many, but once they find out she has a thirteen year old daughter, they kind of run for the hills. I go to an all girls academy called Madam Poms Academy School for Girls. It's quite boring, I have no friends there, or even outside the school. I am what you call a loner, sadly, I don't really mind.
Ever since I was five I found out that I could talk to animals. My mother thought it was the greatest thing, so now our home is over run by all these forest critters. I don't really mind, the only time I am ever inside is when I am sleeping or eating.
So it was a saturday morning, and I woke up at my usual time, when the sun awakes into the brilliant sky. Our cook maid Lucindas was downstairs in the kitchen making me breakfast when I arrived. "Good morning ma'am. Hope you slept well." She smiled.
I sat down abruptly on the stool. "How am I suppose to sleep with all the animals talking?" I looked at her angrily.
"Well animals must sleep too, right?" She asked, while she flipped pancakes.
"Most animals do. But there are some who are night walkers."
Lucindas smile faltered a bit, but than went back to it's usual place. "Well I am sorry to hear that Ms. MoxBurry. Mama told me last night that there are some people who are moving into that old abandoned house down the road from here. Maybe, you can make friends. Mama heard that they have children your age."
I laughed hollowly at her words, "Are you crazy? Me, make friends? Lucindas, you know me better than that. The only friends I have and will ever have are the animals."
"But don't you think it's time you start making friends that are of your own species?" Lucindas asked, while setting the pancakes in front of me, followed by syrup and butter.
"I don't think it's time." I said, well spreading butter on my pancake with a knife. "I don't need friends. I have enough." As if on cue, a robin flew into the kitchen and onto my shoulder.
"My goodness!" Lucindas jumped. "Won't he peck you?"
I laughed, "No, it's the great thing of being able to talk to animals. When they found out I could talk to them and understand them, they were very happy."
"I see. Ma'm can I be excused. I have to run into town to get food for this evening's dinner."
"What's so special about this dinner?" I asked her, looking at her sternly.
"You mean, your mother hasn't told you yet?" Lucindas looked around hesitantly, before continuing. "Your mother is having a big dinner party, for singles and couples tonight. I don't see why, maybe she thinks you need a father figure in your life." Lucindas bowed, "Good bye ma'am."
"Lucindas, I am not a princess, so you don't have to bow."
"Yes, quite right." She walked out the door.
"Strange maid isn't she Wilda?" The robin on my shoulder chirped.
"Very, she's making it seem like she's hiding something. Don't it?" I asked the robin.
"I think she is. Do you think we should go ask the old wolf?" I nodded.
"That sounds like a good idea," I smiled at the robin, and ran upstairs to get dressed.
I came back downstairs, a few minutes later. I was wearing what looked like farmer clothes, but more fashionable. I grabbed a ponytale on my way down, I threw my hair up into a messy pony and walked to the door. My little forest animals following me.
"Where are we going today Wilda?" A field mouse squeaked.
"I am going to go see the Old Wolf. I have many questions to ask him."
"What sort of questions?" A porcupine asked.
"Just questions. You animals stop being so nosy. You ain't coming with me. Just the robin." I said, getting irritated.
"Do you favor the robin more than us?" A dog asked whining a little.
"No, just go back to what you guys were doing, and I'll be back by lunch." I demanded. The animals walked away slowly, while I walked out the door.
I walked on the forest floor while the robin flew above me. I walked up to the closet tree and sighed. "It won't be long till they tear you guys up to make new homes for people."
I continued walking, I finally came across a field, crossing it slowly and with caution. Just because I can talk to animals doesn't mean I am friends with all of them.
I came to a large cave and knocked as loud as I could.
"Who is there?" A aged howl came from the hole.
"It's Wilda Old Wolf. I have come to ask you some questions." I responded strongly. Seeing a wolf is quite scary ya know.
"Enter young Wilda." I cautionedly enter the cave.
A/N: Okay ya'll so I started writing an other story. Don't know where it came from, but I had the idea and I had to write. So tell me what you think please.
