And the People Bowed and Prayed to the Neon God They Made

I walked past the Christian church the other night

It was all lit up like an over decorated Christmas tree

Outside in the darkness

I read their sign

“Salvation is for all, just join us on Thursdays and Sundays”

I had to laugh at this silly little sign

While I stood in the darkness outside

So salvation is for all but only for those who agree

With what you preach?

Stick to the rules

Stick to the tenants

Never question anything religious no matter how impossible it seems

The Earth is still flat

And Evolution?

Well, there is not such thing as that!

Salvation is for all

As long as you agree with what the little Christian Church has to preach

I ignored that sign

I kept on walking outside

Right now that sign and me don’t correlate

Perhaps one day

I’ll find something that has meaning again

(with due regards to Simon and Garfunkel on this. Please don’t sue me!)
