The day started out with a boom of thunder rolling though the house as I got ready for school the next day. Sleep didn’t come easy after Ryan had left the house earlier this morning. I had problems just getting ready for school. Mom seemed to notice the mask that attempted to put on for some breakfast.
“So who was our late night caller?” was what broke our very awkward silence.
“Ryan.” was the only thing I could muster out of my mouth.
“Learn anything from his late night call?” sounding very curious or that she had something up her AC/DC shirt.
“Yes…yes I learned that some people are not as bad as they put out.” I said smiling.
My mother smiled back at me as we finished eating our breakfast then it was off to school for me and off to the shop for mom. Sure I only liked school because some of the classes, but that is about it. I noticed people staring at me as I made my way in to the building. Then it hit me like a rock…literally though.
“Owe much.” I said rubbing the back of my head.
“So the bitch witch returns after a great weekend.” I heard the familiar voice from behind me.
“Uggg…” was all I got out then just went about like nothing had happened.
Making my way to my locker I felt it before I opened it thankfully not feeling anything I opened it. To my surprise there was a rose in it with a small note.
Sage
I hope this will brighten up your day from the stupid people.
Ryan
Grabbing my books I made my way to my first fun filled class, Senior English. Yes people I actually do enjoy this class just because the teacher makes it fun for all of us. Writing poetry is one way that I get to release my creativity. It’s almost like writing my spells only with less power behind it and more feeling.
“So the weather outside is as gloomy as a long day at sea. Why don’t we all write a poem revolving around the rainy day. I will give you 15 minutes after that everyone will present what they have written. You may begin now.” the teacher instructed.
It started on a faithful day of rain
I saw him standing there soaked to the bone
I was crying though you couldn’t tell
He walked over to hold me tight
Feeling his warmth next to my shivering body
The world just melted around me
“Please don’t cry my love.” he begged
My heart had been shatter by another
Right here in the rain he put it back together….
That was all I could muster up in 15 minutes. Sorry people if it doesn’t impress you, but hell the teacher only gave us 15 minutes and that is not a lot of time. She asked me first, of course, to stand up and read it out loud. I was a little worried because it was so short in length that the teacher would be disappointed in me. So I cleared my throat and made my little speech of my short poem.
Once I finished the teacher was happy that I made a short poem this time around. She was pleased to say the least. After the last person went the bell rang to change classes. I placed my poem on her desk for her to look over because I knew she would love to that for me. Now it was off to the next class of the day, but first I had to make a pit stop at my locker.
“So the little teacher’s pet is at it again.” I heard Samantha’s voice coo after class.
“Sorry Sammy, but I’m not a teacher’s pet. I’m just better at English class than you.” I smartly said in return.
The girl shut up after my comment and I walked away with a smile. I knew she would make lunch hell for me somehow. The rest of the day moved along with ease, that is until lunch rolled along. Remember how I had a smartass comment to Samantha I seriously regretted it during lunch, well sort of.
Walking with a full tray full of food from the great cafeteria (being sarcastic) I made my way to my usual spot to sit and eat. I, for a second, looked up from my feet to find Samantha smirking in my direction. I stopped at looked at her to read her expressions and then she told me with her eyes what she had planned. At the point of her mouthing the code word I hit the ground and watched food fly over my head to hit the assistant principal in the back of his head.
I loved her expression after that because it was really priceless. If her jaw could drop to the floor it would have for starters. Eyes so big I though they were going to pop out of her head. I just laughed so hard I almost tripped, but caught myself. I ate my lunch with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. Revenge in the form of mashed potatoes with gravy.
I went home in one of the best moods I have had in a long while. I had my rose in my hand as I entered the driveway was to find something sitting on the porch of the house. Making my way out of the car and over to the porch I found a little teddy bear with another note.
Sage
I missed you so I thought I would drop a bear to make you think of me the way I’m thinking of you a lot lately. Hope to see you at the hockey game on Saturday.
Ryan
Again the boy left me in awe of little surprises. I picked up the bear that had the little penguin mascot on it with his jersey number and last name on the back. I couldn’t help but feel a little giddy at that point in time, until my mother opened the door with a nice shiner on her eye. I dropped the bear and my good mood disappeared that instance.
“Mom…What happened to your eye?” I said to her very concerned.
She didn’t answer me just opened the door more and pointing to the living room. I saw the T.V. on, but I thought my mother just had it on. Seeing a shadow on the couch I made a very bad observation, my father was in the house once again and I lost it completely.
I walked straight over to my room to find the gun my mother knew nothing of. A 380 berretta pistol that was small enough to hide anywhere. It was already loaded and I was full of rage to kill someone especially my drunken dirt bag biological father. I made sure to put it in a none obvious spot to hide it from plain view. Walking to the living room I stood in front of the T.V. blocking his view for a reason. The man turned it off smiling up at me and all I could smell was alcohol around this place.
“I told you once that you were no longer welcomed here.” I said in a warning tone.
“Awe Sage you should know that I’m always welcomed here.” he said still smiling.
“You will leave now or I will call the police.”
“(small chuckle) I don’t think so Sage. It’s just not that easy to get rid of me. So come here and give me a hug.” he said taking one step toward me with arms wide open (no pun intended for those Creed fans out there).
“I would like to think other wise, Edward.” I said taking out my pistol pointing it at him.
“Whoa where the hell did you get that and how do you know how to shot?”
“There are a lot of things you don’t know about me. You were told to leave for a reason and you know damn well what that reason was. My mother divorced you because you fucking beat her and then you made the attempt to rape/beat me in the process. You, Edward Trimble, need to leave us alone or I promise you won’t live to see the coming year.” I told him very threaten like and serious.
The man threw his hands up in the air like he had given up, but if I knew my father this wasn’t the white flag I was hoping for. In slow motion I watch the man leap over the coffee table at me. My reaction time was pretty much flawless because I pointed and pulled the trigger like he was a paper target hitting center mass. Once again in slow motion I watch him drop on the coffee table while blood splurged in different directions. Next thing I hear is my mother screaming and running to me as the gun was lowered and my breathing went back to normal.
“Sage..” was the only thing my mother could get out.
I had killed my father with a one shot kill. I felt no remorse or any feeling what-so-ever for the man laying there motionless in his own blood. Sirens blared outside as I knew the police were getting closer. One of the neighbors must of have called them after the gun shot or the scream from my mother. There would have to be some serious explaining especially for the gun that was in my hands.
I was prepared to pay the consequences for my actions. I killed him because he would always be a threat to this family if he was alive. The cops barged in with their guns drawn yelling for me to drop my gun so I did it.
“He came at me and hurt my mom.” was what came out of my mouth as tears slipped down my face.
