It’s a rite of passage

So I’ve been told

Turning 21

August 28th 2008

That’s the day I cross that line

I’m turning 21

My license goes horizontal

I can take that first legal drink

Celebrating turning 21

I can die for my country

I can help decide who will be president

Responsible for all this at 18

What’s so special?

It’s just another year

Turning 21

Socially an adult

Still clinging to my childish imagination

Should this be happening so soon, turning 21?

Are there different expectations of me now?

Is this the beginning of the end?
