Struggling to Breathe

I'm breathing as deeply as I possibly can

Yet nothing is entering my lungs

The pain is getting more intense

As the need for oxygen grows more

And as I sit here with all the pain

I wonder whether this will be the last

The last like it so nearly was the time before this

When my asthma got this bad

I struggle to get just one more breathe

Struggling desperately to survive

As my asthma tightens my throat again

And I force myself to stand up

I make my legs move slowly forwards

Towards the inhaler I so desperately need

I feel my heart beat rising again

And my chest is pounding loudly

Every part of my body is aching

In desperate need of oxygen

But all I can do is hope that this wont be the last time
