A/N: this one's based off of a rather traumatizing race in my track and field career. i fell on the last hurdle and ended up losing completely. it sucked, but it made a good sonnet!

The Fall

I can’t believe I made it to the end;

I nearly cried when they called out my name.

I barely made it past the audition;

I knew my life would never be the same.

I waited for the ref to start the race.

We ran out as soon as they gave the sing.

I thought I would do well; I was on pace.

I hoped I would be first to cross the line.

But then I felt something upon my arm.

I saw the girl beside me take a fall.

The touch I barely felt started the harm.

I tried to jump; I tried to give my all.

Now on the ground, I knew I lost the race;

My mind was blank, tears streaming down my face.
