Chapter One:

A Kiss

She’s walking down the stares. Around her there’s only dark. And every step that she makes could be her last one.

She senses it’s presence but she can’t see it. The person that haunts her dreams and occupies her mind while she’s awake.

She is now at the bottom of the stares. She waits. After a while a figure appears form the darkness and stands in front of her. It looks her in the eyes and she knows… The search is over, she found it…

Sudden ringing noise wakes her up. She’s lying in the bed, turned around so that her feet are on the pillow. She nocks down her clock and gets up. A look at the mirror disappointed her again.

Her pale skin that slightly glows, her flat stomach and torso, her glittery hazel eyes and brown curly hair… For what does she need all that if she can’t attract even a ten year old?

She walks don to the bathroom and washes her face and teeth. After she puts on her makeup, frosty lip-gloss, mascara and eye-liner. She dresses up in her room. She takes a white shirt with wavy sleeves and dark jeans with ripped ends. She puts on her “All Star” sneakers and takes the bag that stands in the corner. In the hallway she takes her leather jacket and goes downstairs.

She gets out of the house without breakfast and goes to the bus station. In the bus she sits next to an old lady with white hair. She gets up at the last station and goes towards big gray building with large wooden doors. She comes in.

In the school there’s only a few students that come that early. Lilia is one of them. She climbs to her class on the second floor and enters the classroom.

She sits in the first row by the window. She looks through the window. A lonely skater on his black skate is racing a pigeon. What morning!

After thirty minutes Ella enters the classroom. She’s is the smartest girl in the class and she sits next to Lilia. She says “Hi.” on what Lilia just looks her. Ella leaves the classroom. After her Joel came. He waved and Lilia pretended she didn’t saw him.

When more people began to arrive Lilia left the class. She went to the girls toilette which was actually a 3x3 room with two toilets and two sinks(one was leaking). She sat on the radiator next to the sink and lit a cigarette. After she went back to the class.

Behind her was sitting Lucy. She was her only friend in the class and still Lilia was far from being friend with her. She just waved at her and sat in the chair.

After two boring classes of English she went to the toilet again. In the first cabin she heard someone whispering. She entered the second and lit a smoke. After a few minutes the persons in the other cabin started moaning. And then they exited the cabin.

Lilia turned her eyes and threw the cigarette into the toilet. She got out and saw two girls kissing in front of the mirror above the sink. They stopped and Lilia recognized one of the girls. It was Michelle, from her class. Michelle looked at her for a second and than she kept on kissing the other girl.

When Lilia didn’t move she stopped and asked her: “Do you want to join us?” She was sarcastic. Lilia stared at her and than the other girl left Michelle and came to Lilia. She looked at girl’s brown eyes and then the girl kissed her.

It was a real kiss. THE kiss. When they stopped Michelle came and took the girls hand. Than they left.

Lilia stood at the same place thinking about what just happened. She looked at her reflection at the mirror and saw the same thing she saw this morning. Herself. How could it be that someone kissed her knowing that’s her?

“Well I guess I’m not such failure after all.” she said. She sent a kiss to herself in the mirror and smiled. For first in a long time.
