You gave me the best advice,
just see what happens,
if he loves you, then he loves you,
and if he doesn’t, don’t get your heart broken,
I believed you.

Two weeks ago, all the snow melted,
he was back from Toronto,
and I was just waiting,
listening to your instructions;
it he loves you, then he loves you,
and if he doesn’t, don’t get your heart broken.

Oh, that boy loved me,
and I loved him right back,
but you loved him, too,
didn’t you?

Mother, dearest, you gave me the best advice,
just see what happens, if he loves you, then he loves you,
and he did love me for a time,
but you never told me what to do,
when he loved me, then broke my heart,
and then fell for you.
