the sun breaks over the horizon

the light slowly slicing through

as the darkness begins fading

as the moon makes its descent

slowly, gradually consuming

the light floods through

providing an escape, freeing

I let it consume me

allowing it free rein inside me

washing away my fears

fading my sorrows away

filling my body, my soul

infusing my hear with joy

the worry entirely gone now

the happiness replacing all else

I lay here, reveling in its heat

the light, the sun, the warmth

it sooths my aching soul

my crying heart, all of it

showing me an escape

any anguish I once felt

washed away in the oblivion

I find peace in its heat

it is incomparable, unbeatable

it's all I need, all I ever want
