I think this girl's cried herself dry
and now all she can feel is her throat
caving in on itself. (dry skin sticking to dry skin)
as she sucks at the brittle air for moister to wet her tear ducts
so that she may cry some more oceans.

But now I believe all she can do
is smile into the face of that burning sun
who hides himself in darkness to make him
turn away in shame at how
she has forever and always out done him,

because everyone knows
-- I am and always will be
the better one of “us”.
