As the sun rose to its highest point in the sky, the three companions had finally found tire marks and foot prints that belonged to a group of Constructs, however it started to rain and the trail disappeared in the muddy ground. Venus did not seem to mind the rain, for a leaf grew from her back and sheltered her head from the rain. Reaizon took on the shape of a crow flying through the canopy cover of the forest trees, and Styxlnon had his black hooded cape over his head.
“Look at this!” Reaizon shouted as he headed back to the ground landing in his human form. Venus and Styxlnon ran over to where he landed and there on the ground laid the body of a bulky, rusted construct sinking into the mud.
“It has been attacked,” Venus said rubbing her fingers across six long slash marks going down the back of the construct. “And not by a small creature either,” Venus added.
“At least we are not going in the wrong direction,” Styxlnon stated, observing the area around them.
“Are you sure we should keep going this way, I mean if it killed the construct what’s to say it wont kill us next?” Reaizon questioned nervously.
“We have to see what happens, by the look of the marks the creature only had to make one swipe,” said Styxlnon, "Besides that Delphi might be in danger from whatever killed the construct as much as the constructs themselves."
“Then we shall continue,” Venus acknowledged, standing up. She added to Styx, "Lover."
The three moved further into the forest with Styx pulling his hood up further to hide his blush. Reaizon smirked in his mind. An hour later they came across something a little more worrying, for laying on the road in front of them laid the bodies of ten more rusted constructs each one torn apart.
“OK, I hate to say this but I don’t think the creature is getting any happier about finding these guys instead of meat,” Reaizon concluded glancing around nervously.
“I would hate to say this, but I don’t think it's going to be unhappy for much longer,” Venus said pointing to the forest. From the gloom, three creatures about the size of lions slunk out onto the road. Their cat like bodies each grew four powerful legs with 6 toes ending in long dagger like claws. The faces of these beasts were a hideous mix between a lion and a serpent, and their tails waved around behind them a poison thorn sticking out of the end.
“Styx hurry we have to run,” said Reaizon.
Styx did not see it that way through off his cloak revealing his skeletal arms. Venus also grew two long green swords from the palms of her hands and stared at the cat-serpent creature. “If we don’t fight they will kill us,” Styx said gleefully. A ball of black fire appeared in each of his bony hands and he threw them at the creature on the left. One of the balls missed and the other struck it right in the face, the creature ignited immediately and screamed very loudly as it’s body slumped to the ground. The other two creatures lunged at Venus and Reaizon. A vine rose from the ground behind one creature and wrapped it up in midair; it struggled violently but could not escape. Reaizon grabbed his long black scythe with a green blade from his back and sliced the head off of his creature, the body collapsed onto the ground and Reaizon caught the head of the creature on his scythe. When Styxlnon turned around, Venus had somehow killed the creature without having to use her swords and they turned brown and fell to the ground like leaves. Reaizon looked at the head and picked it up.
“Put that thing down Reaizon,” Styxlnon yelled at him.
“No wait,” said Reaizon. As he looked into the eyes of the dead creature he drained the memories of the dead creature, as he did so he gained the knowledge of how it lived how it thought and when he looked away he was in the form of the cat-serpent.
“So now what? You can turn into whatever you want?” Venus asked curiously.
“Well no, when I want to change into a new animal I have to make a contact with one, dead or alive, and then I have to go through its memories and I have to learn how live like that creature. That way if I turn into a bird I know how to fly, and the how to use the wind,” Reaizon explained.
“Well that is interesting, can you turn into non living objects too?” Venus pressed.
“Well I have never tried I have only wanted to change into animals for as long as I can remember,” Reaizon said, “I don’t need to however, for I have my scythe.”
“Well enough with the ‘chit chat’ people it is time to go,” Styxlnon said impatiently, "Lead away Venus."
The three of them moved on leaving the bodies of the three dead cat-serpent creatures behind them.
