A/N: Next chapter!

--

Logan awoke to someone nudging her foot, “Wake up.” Laine’s voice called for her, forcing her to open her eyes. She felt so sluggish.

“Come on… fresh air will do you good. Just stick by me.” He grumbled and held out his gloved hand.

Logan took it and glanced around, noticing Scott wasn’t anywhere nearby, “Where are we?” She asked with a small yawn as she was pulled to her feet, she marveled at Laine’s strength.

“You weigh a ton… maybe I should use my robotic arm next time I lift you up.” He grumbled and patted her back roughly once she was on her feet. Logan threw him a glare making him chuckle, “All right. Enough standing around here. I need your help getting supplies for the ship.”

“Why can’t you take Ryan.” Logan frowned at him, “He looks like he’s strong enough to carry your supplies.”

“Because Ryan is busy stalking the ship with more… weapons.” Laine grumbled and turned around walking away from her, “Let’s go.” He motioned with his gloved hand as he walked towards the doors leading to the exit ramp. Logan glanced back at Nova and saw he was covered with a large sheet, sighing she stumbled after Laine.

Bright light pooled in from outside the opening hanger doors. Logan squinted slightly as her eyes adjusted to the bright environment. She followed after Laine who walked outside with a cart and a data pad that she supposed contained a price list and a sum of their credits they could spend.

Logan’s eyes widened at the civilization around her. Different beings walked around the port, it reminded her of Earth… but with a lot more sun and alien species. Children ran around in the street, people were selling many different parts and oddities along the buildings. Ships flew overhead while ground scooters and small carriers moved people around bellow. She could get lost out here, and almost did had it not been for Laine’s voice catching her attention.

“Come on kid! I don’t want to go looking for you!” Laine called as he motioned for her before continuing with his small journey to the market areas. Logan marveled at the sun for a moment before hurrying after him. She felt sluggish, but this had her moving around. She almost felt as young as the children rushing around in the streets. Maybe because this was her first time on a different planet.

Departures and Arrivals were announced on the speakers above drawing Logan’s attention from Laine for a moment. When she looked back, he was gone.

“Oh great….” She grumbled and looked around her, she had lost sight of him for one second and he was gone. She wasn’t paying attention to her surroundings so she didn’t know which way to go. Part of her told her to sit down and wait for Laine, but the other half was completely against it. She was on a new planet after all. With a smirk she rushed off into the crowd, throwing caution to the wind. She’d run into one of them eventually, but right now, she wanted to enjoy herself.

Glancing at her watch she noted the time and searched her pockets, looking for anything to bargain or sell and froze when she pulled out a card. It looked like a credit card. Turning it over she saw her name was on the back making her eyebrows rise, “Okay… this is a pleasant surprise.”

Don’t overspend it, otherwise it’ll become noticeable.’ Nova’s voice sounded in her head.

Eh? It’s probably empty.’ She thought back as she glanced around for a port to check it in.

Nova’s voice chuckled slightly and she could just picture him shaking his head, ‘I tapped into the main credit database so you can buy anything you want, but don’t go overboard. Because if too many credits go missing, they’ll notice.’

Waiiiiiit… you hacked into the main credit database?’ Logan stopped in her tracks and almost got plowed over by a ground scooter.

Yes. They won’t notice a few missing here or there. Credits disappear due to data corruption all the time… so says the reports in their mainframe. So I figured a present from me to you. Buy what you need, but don’t go supernova on spending the credits, or they could notice and eventually find you.’ Nova informed her.

Logan glanced around and pocketed the credit card, ‘Okay… that’s a dangerous toy.’

Don’t worry, only a certain code numbers will activate it, and I’ll tell you which ones at which given time. No one else can use it.’ Nova added.

Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping?’ Logan smirked as she rushed off towards the area with that was selling clothing, ‘I’ll ask for the pin when I need it, otherwise just go back to sleep so we won’t get into trouble.’

As you wish.’

Logan smiled and looked at the different stands, seeing what they could offer. She saw a lot of scarves that she really liked, and a few outfits she thought were adorable, but then she remembered she was supposed to be a guy. Sighing she walked over to the guy’s area and smiled when she found the perfect outfit, her stomach would show, but it was flat, so that was fine. Pulling out her card, she got the numbers from Nova.

Rushing into the changing room she threw on the long shorts and new shoes as well as the tight, short black shirt and vest. Strapping the vest across her chest she attached the collar and placed the headband on her head, tossing her old clothes to the floor. Placing the card in her vest pocket she re-adjusted her watch and thanked the owner of the store before leaving, rushing out into the streets.

After an hour of window shopping, she spotted a game of some sort being played between a small group of teenage boys. Smiling, she recalled which game it was and felt her stomach tighten as she remembered she used to play this game with her brother and his friends back when she was younger. Adjusting her gloves she purchased she walked over to lean against a large scrapped carrier frame that was used for a goal. Crossing her arms she smirked at them, “Hey, do you guys want another player?”

The game paused and they glanced at her for a moment, considering her before one of the guys raised his hands, “I need to get back to work, you can take my spot. Fifth score, right hand field.” He smiled and rushed over to her. Ruffling her hair he laughed, “Watch out for the left field, second score, the guy with the tattoo, he’s got a mean hit to him.” With that he rushed off.

“Thanks!” She called and rushed over to take the guys spot. She only noticed one other female in the group, giving her a nod she glanced at her opponent and readied herself for the game to start again. With a sharp whistle from one of the players the game continued and she quickly grabbed the ball and rushed around two others towards her goal.

She was tackled from the side by the man with the tattoos on his face and thrown to the ground. With a grunt she landed hard on her back, knocking the wind from her lungs as the ball was snatched from her clutches. Wincing she gripped the ground beneath her and arched her back throwing her legs out to hook behind his and knock him off his feet. Rolling backwards she scrambled up to stand and kicked the ball to her team member out and away from her opponent. Glancing down at him she rushed back into the game.

An hour later, the game ended. Logan’s team won, but only because of the girl and her friend, their team work was amazing. She was about to go ask them for their names when she was grabbed from behind the thrown against one of the goals, “Who do you think you are runt… coming into my game and making me look like a fool.” The tattooed man growled at her.

“With all due respect…” She winced and pushed herself up to stand, “…You’re quite a sore loser.”

She was slugged hard in the face, causing her to slam back into the goal.

“Hey!”

Logan peeled open one of her eyes to see a familiar looking man tackle the tattooed man before her face was gently moved to the side. She gazed into the worried eyes of the Doctor. The pains slowly faded from her face as she watched his own bruise and quickly heal. Her mouth dropped open in awe before the Doctor asked if she was all right.

“Y-Yeah. I’m fine.” She winced, her jaw was still tender, it would probably be swollen tonight, “I won though.” She smirked.

Ryan got to his feet and spit on the tattooed man before rubbing the cut on his face and gazing at Logan, “Are you okay kiddo?”

Logan nodded, gazing down at the bruised and beaten man.

“Laine called us in to look for you. He said you wandered off.” The Doctor frowned at her.

“I didn’t wander off! I got lost! He ditched me!” Logan huffed and crossed her arms in front of her. Her eyebrow slowly rose as Nova’s voice sounded once again in her head.

I am picking up a scan from a fleet… and its more advanced then Earth technology. I believe it is the same fleet we just escaped from. Perhaps they are done with Earth and now headed this way.’

“What?!” Logan asked out loud her eyes widening, “If that’s true why wouldn’t the military do anything about it? I don’t see any activity!” Ryan and the Doctor gave her odd looks but she ignored them for the moment.

Perhaps it’s because they are being discreet. They probably won’t pick up on them until their primitive scanners do. And they can easily be blocked.’

“So… basically… everyone is going to die.” Logan paled.

I believe so unless the military is given a heads up. Requesting permission to come off of sleeping mode.’

Logan shook her head, “Where is Charles.” She demanded, gazing directly at Ryan.

“What’s up with the talking to yourself gig…” Ryan asked moving the toothpick between his teeth, he raised his eyebrow slowly.

Logan ignored him and turned her attention to the Doctor, “Where is Charles.”

“I believe he’s in a pub… I’m not sure of his exact location at the moment.” He blinked at her before asking, “What’s wrong Logan?”

“Can we get in touch with him?!” Logan asked, they really didn’t have time to play this question game.

“I don’t think he brought any communication with him…” The Doctor frowned.

Logan glared at the dusty ground her teeth clenching, ‘What do you think Nova. How can we save as many people as possible?”

Grant permission for me to wake from sleeping mode. I’ll come pick you up.’ Nova replied.

Logan gazed at the floor before nodding and slowly removing her vest and handing it to the Doctor, “Hold onto that for me. I really like this vest.” Turning around she darted away from them and towards a more deserted area, “Permission granted.”

Take off the watch and hold it in your hands.’ Nova informed her. Logan did so as she ran and smiled when it formed the headphones, ‘Put them on.’ Nova added, Logan happily placed them on her head and gasped when a bright red visor flickered across her eyes.

Target can be seen on the scanner’s visual. Just look up.’ Nova’s voice was in her ears now. She glanced up and the targeting system quickly pinpointed the ships coming towards them.

“Shit… it looks like the entire fleet.” She grumbled.

“Logan! Logan! HEY!” Ryan called from behind her. Spinning around Logan watched him run, her targeting system calculating his speed and how long it would take for him to reach her. The side panel beeped and she glanced to her right and she targeted Laine at a stand, gazing up at the scene. He quickly dropped the data pad in his hand and his gaze became sharp, only to widen considerably.

Screams sounded in the plaza and nearby shops as Logan spun around to watch Nova fly over and land a few feet in front of her, kicking up dust and sand into the air. Holding out his hand he carefully picked up Logan and placed her in the cockpit. The headphones she was wearing shifted around her until it formed the very helmet she placed on when she first stepped into the cockpit, “Why Nova, you are quite the handy machine… very efficient.”

I try.” Nova answered as the cockpit closed, “Military is scanning immediate area.” He reported as he handed the controls over to Logan.

“What do scouts normally do? Besides… blow things up.” She stopped his response short with the last bit.

“…As far as records say they are… discrete. “ Nova answered, a smile hinting his voice.

“Why don’t we shock them a bit? Rattle their cage… without killing anyone.” Logan smirked and stretched, “You can take control if you want. I’ll just enjoy the show. Oh! And signal to the others to get back to the ship.”

Very well.” Nova replied as he took control. Gazing at the Doctor he pointed back into the direction of the ship before quickly starting up his thrusters and launching himself into the air. Hovering over the city he pulled out his gun and gazed around for mundane targets that would result in no casualties. Blasting the water facility on the South he quickly targeted the Military’s grounds and flew over to it, landing in the middle of their landing bay.

Nova stretched in a mocking manner before pulling out his cannon and waiving it around slowly making Logan laugh.

A sharp beep sounded from behind inside the cockpit and Nova spun around only to roll and dodge a missile from one of the military fighters, “I believe that got their attention.”

“Same. Let’s get the hell out of here.” Logan quickly ordered sending Nova into another dodge roll before he launched himself into the sky, “The others will meet us in space right?”

If you wish, I could send a note to the ship to remind them.” Nova responded as he dodged a line of bullets meant for his thrusters that were on his back.

“Yes please… Do you think they’ll pick up the fleet in time?” Logan asked as they pushed through the first layer of the atmosphere, the targeting system was picking up on several other fighters following them.

Perhaps… do you wish to assist them? Buy them time?” Nova asked as they broke through another layer of atmosphere, he expertly wove out of the path of fire as he continued ascending.

“I think it would be best if we gave it a try…” Logan frowned as they broke the final layer and flew into space.

Plotting a direct course to the fleet.” Nova responded, “Would you like to maintain control?”

“That would be great thanks.” She replied with a smirk, “Pull up the weapon menu again. I want to see which ones would inflict the most damage on as many targets as we can.”

I recommend the cannon and the auto-targeting missiles.”

“All right, then we’ll use those.” Logan dodged another shot from the fighters catching up with them, “Let’s make them eat our space dust.” She barked and Nova threw the thrusters on full launching them at the fleet.

Military has spotted fleet and is withdrawing for the time being.” Nova reported as they came closer, “Lowering the speed slightly… so we don’t crash.”

“Oh thanks for the tip in flying one-o-one.” Logan replied sarcastically as the targeting system picked up the fleet, “Lets launch the missiles.” Using her eyes she noted the larger targets and with a clench of her fist they fired a line of missiles directly at the enemy fleet, “Oh boy is the military going to have a field day with this.” She laughed and rolled her arm that held the cannon. Clenching her teeth she flew towards the bright explosions and surprised fighters that were probably scanning Nova. After taking out two of them they got the message and quickly began attacking her.

“Nova, you watch my back with any automatic defenses we have and I’ll take care of the ones in the front.”

Very well.” He replied.

Logan glared at one of her opponents in the way and quickly went to battle with it.

Military has ordered to attack fleet. Do you wish to withdraw pilot?” Nova asked as he took out a fighter that was targeting them from behind.

“Yeah. Let me finish this last one.” Logan grunted as she quickly held up her shielded arm, blocking an attack. Using her thrusters on her feet she blew the opponent off of her and into another, “Plot an immediate path out of here!” She ordered as she spun around and took off, glancing at the military that was heading towards the slightly wounded fleet.

I’ll take control, your vitals are spiking slightly. You should rest.” Nova’s voice frowned as he took control and quickly maneuvered them away from the fight and other fighters. Locating the signal from Charles’s ship he quickly headed after it, swooping way away from the battle to remove himself from any radar before heading towards it.

Logan glanced down at herself and smiled, “You didn’t burn off my clothes this time!”

I committed it to memory how unpleasant it was for you. I promise I won’t do it again.” Nova’s voice smiled as the ship came into view.

“Good. Thank you.” Logan smiled as they neared the ship.
