The whole world’s falling down
around me, collapsing in on itself.
But it’s the little things that matter:
That stumble on the stairs -
the slip of tongue in the classroom,
the tired scribbles on daunting page.
Only the little things, so small:
The teasing eyes -
the pen not close at hand,
the scuffmarks on the floorboards,
the spilt drink on the desk.
The whole world’s falling down
and I don’t even notice:
Too busy drowning in details.
