“Fluid Feelings”

breaking water
instilling calm
inner peace
inspired by windsong
counting clovers
seeing signs
in the water's still designs

I shouldn't feel this way
I should have learned long ago
I thought I learned my lesson
I guess I can't let go
I'm so full of hope
I long to see
I hope your heart is smiling for me
I pray this pain brings me closer to you,
even though it's something I really shouldn't do
slowly burning down to nothing
could I hope for anything else

there is no breeze
the smoke, it whirls
like this crazy, changing world
in the sunset I see my scars,
but my future's in the stars
along they drift, the pieces wet
of their home they do forget
counting days until the ocean
with its somber, fitful motion
little robin, hear my story
take away this pain and worry
and the moon, it'll never set
and this ache I can't forget
yet there is peace within the rain
the chaos is surely due to wane
